A Brief House of Knives History

House of Knives is a successful privately 100% Canadian owned business that was first established in 1979.

In 1987, Allan Eng opened a House of Knives in Victoria, BC.

In 1992, Allan and his brother Andre purchased the franchise rights for British Columbia and rapidly expanded from one store to 10 within a three month period. Together, they created a business model that distinguished itself from corporate stores by offering a broader selection of quality products, a higher level of customer service, and a sharper focus on product knowledge. This model established the western franchise as the most successful in Canada.

By 2010, all House of Knives stores east of British Columbia were closed.

In 2011, André Eng purchased full rights to the House of Knives brand across the country, to fulfill his dream of expanding House of Knives across Canada.

In 2015, with the opening of the third House of Knives store in Alberta in less than three years, Andre's dream is well on its way to becoming a reality.

At present, we have 14 stores in BC and Alberta, and are looking forward to expanding across Canada.
