I was on the 'bench' about Benchmade for years namely, for their price tag. I decided to break down and buy a Benchmade Griptilian 550(base model, sheep foot configuration)last summer. My initial impressions were the scales on the handle felt cheap because it is 'Grivory' a.k.a plastic. I EDC'd it for a month and my attitude towards it changed significantly. It performs extremely well. This Osborne 940 performs on the same level, the reverse tanto blade is really sharp and has good edge retention. There is no hot spots on this knife. The ease of opening, the lockup, the jimping on the back of the handle and the choil and the placement of the thumb stud slightly adjacent to the Ricasso of the blade. The result: maximum cutting length. Thumb studs that are not placed properly on a knife can be a hinderance. However, this thumb stud is properly placed. The blade detent is very good. I decided to go with the g10 scales handle model one instead of the original aluminum handle model. I not a fan of 'snail trails' which tend to form on aluminum handle knives due to abrasion. This knife has been a flagship staple for the company for 24+ years since it's inception in the year 2000. I also bought a shot show Osborne 2024 945 in S90v. Hats off to Benchmade and to the late master knife maker Warren Osborne for such a fine pocket knife. Well worth the money.

Surprising how well such a small knife fits in your hand,almost inexistent in pocket and fits nice and solid even in large size hands,and very happy with the quality of benchmade knives, this is my third one and not my last,i also purchased two as xmas gifts this year.
