Burnaby, BC, Canada,Sept 22nd, 2017 – On August 1st, 2017, House of Knives announced a chain-wide “sharpening drive” to help raise funds for the British Columbia Wildfires Appeal. This fund, created by the Canadian Red Cross, is designed to directly assist Canadians affected by the BC Wildfires in the BC Interior and Cariboo regions.
Since April of this year, the fires have scorched over 426,000 hectares of land and have displaced more than 6,000 residents in the region.
“We had to help,” says House of Knives President, Andre Eng. “With so many brave men and women fighting the fires on the front lines, plus the army of volunteers doing what they do best to assist, we decided to do what we do best. And that’s sharpen knives.”
From August 1 st to 31st, 2017, House of Knives locations across BC and Alberta sharpened over 2,426 knives. Net proceeds of all sharpening sales, totaling at $17,557, will go directly to the British Columbia Wildfires Appeal Fund.
