Description

The strong response to the original Boker M4 Sherman-Damascus inspired the creation of a more traditional interpretation featuring the same historically significant Damascus steel. This edition is based on the classic Boker Barlow, a more compact and refined design that works equally well as a collector’s piece and as an elegant everyday carry knife. The blade is crafted from exclusive Sherman-Damascus steel, opens with a traditional nail nick, and follows a non-locking slipjoint construction. To improve handling and safety, the knife includes a 90-degree stop during opening and closing. The recognizable Barlow shape dates back to English pocket knives of the 17th century and is considered one of the oldest folding knife patterns. Its name is commonly associated with a Sheffield knife maker who introduced the durable design to North America in the early 1800s, where it quickly gained popularity and later became part of Boker’s own heritage.

The inspiration behind this model comes from the legendary M4 Sherman tank, originally developed in 1940 and widely regarded as one of history’s most iconic armored vehicles. Produced in nearly 50,000 units between 1942 and 1945 and used by Allied forces across World War II and beyond, the Sherman left a lasting mark on military history. Working together with the Americans in Wartime Museum in Virginia, Boker preserved part of that legacy by creating a blade forged from recovered materials used in restored Sherman tanks. The 80-layer Damascus blade is hand-forged by Chad Nichols in a customized Ladder pattern designed to reflect the track marks left by the tank. The knife is completed with burlap micarta handle scales inspired by historic U.S. military camouflage, solid CNC-machined stainless steel construction with integrated bolsters, and a hand-finished matte surface. Each knife includes a premium felt case, certificate of authenticity, and an individual serial number, and is handmade in the Boker Knife Manufactory in Solingen.
