Description
The GiantMouse ACE Riv is more than just a "small" knife. It’s a design born from a specific kind of grit and a lot of shared history. When we moved operations from the Bay Area to Michigan in 2020, we found ourselves back at a legendary haunt near the corner of Albert and M.A.C. in East Lansing. The Riv.
It’s a dive bar that wears its years proudly—loud, a bit rough, and packed with the kind of soul you only find in places where stories are told over cold beers. We didn’t just want to name a knife after it; we wanted to capture that feeling of a "local" that never lets you down.
While the Riv shares some DNA with its older brother, the Biblio, it was never meant to be a "mini" version of anything. It was designed from the ground up to have its own rhythm. With the Riv Ti Mint, we’ve taken that compact, punchy attitude and given it a sophisticated, technical edge.
This iteration features titanium scales finished in a striking Green Anodization. It’s a colorway that feels fresh but grounded—a nod to the "Mint" moniker while maintaining the ruggedness expected of a GiantMouse folder.
For the first time in GiantMouse history, they’ve applied a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating to the blade. This isn’t just about the sleek, matte black look; it’s about providing a surface hardness and corrosion resistance that matches the high-performance S90V blade steel. Known for its incredible edge retention, S90V ensures that the Riv stays sharp long after other knives have headed for the stones.
The Ti Mint is a frame lock powerhouse that disappears in the pocket but commands attention in the hand. It’s the knife you reach for when you need a dependable edge for the finer tasks, or when your "primary" blade feels like overkill. It’s straightforward, capable, and full of the same character that defines its namesake.
