Kasumi Knives are produced by the Sumikama Cutlery factory in Seki Japan. Since 1916, Sumikama Cutlery in Japan, has been devoted to manufacturing high-quality and value-added cutlery using the over 780-year traditions of Seki swordsmiths and outstanding skill to harmonize new technologies with new materials. The Kasumi Damascus series are made from 33 layers of stainless steel. The layers on both sides of the V-Gold No. 10 core are made by repeatedly folding together two different types of stainless steel and forge welding them by hand. Sumikama's technique for this special tempering is a closely guarded secret.
